Playtra Games Partners with the It Gets Better Project + Exclusive Beta Showcase

We are thrilled to share that we are teaming up with the It Gets Better Project to mark the launch of Grid Force - Mask of the Goddess.

We realize it is somewhat uncommon for an indie studio to join forces with a charity while a game is still in development, but we believe it is a meaningful move for indies to make. Games genuinely shape players' lives. Everyone on our team can recall forming friendships and finding encouragement through the games we play, whether that means handing a controller back and forth on the couch, trading fan theories on a forum, or--as happens today--hanging out in Discord.

The advice indies always hear is to “make the game you want to play.” What does that mean if you’re black and gay? What does it mean if you’re a woman in an industry with a long history of selling games on sex appeal rather than character depth? For us, it means Grid Force.

Representation in games matters because for many kids, playing a video game is their only window beyond their immediate surroundings. The world is changing, yet many LGBTQ+ children and young adults still feel alone and isolated.

But you are not alone. Your situation right now might not be ideal, but you can find online communities or play games that tell stories like your own. The It Gets Better Project has carried this message for years, and we’re excited to be part of that mission with our game.

We’re launching this effort with a Beta Showcase this weekend, streaming live on Twitch and Steam. On Steam, drop in over the weekend to meet our team members and see what we’re building. On Twitch, we invited streamers who have championed inclusivity to give their communities an early look at Grid Force.

Tune in and show these streamers your support (check the Grid Force category on Twitch Friday through Sunday).

Thank you for being on this journey with us!
