Grid Fight - Dev Diary #1 - Warming Up

Hey, amazing reader!

We are gearing up for our next ambitious Nintendo Switch project, Grid Fight! You may or may not have heard of it.

For the last few months, we used our time exploring game designs and ideas. We found a method that many in the industry use but we feel is still underrated: prototype fast and kill faster.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not our intention to commit homicide here, but understanding as soon as possible if a game is worth to be developed or not, was vital for the future of Playtra. You can still see most of the game that made it to the first part of our strict process here. After several tests, we finally found a project that has real potential.

We presented an early version of Grid Fight at Devcom 2019, and we immediately understood that we had something good in our hands. People really enjoyed it. It was just a prototype, and to be honest, we didn’t even spend that much time on it, but people enjoyed it more than any other game that we show. So, that was it, the sign from the universe that we needed, and now, we are getting ready to kick off the production!

What does it mean getting ready? Well, we don’t want to jump into full production without even knowing what exactly we are going to do. In Playtra, we are fans of process and plans. The past few weeks were all about planning the next months/years.

The art team spent some time studying the art target for the game and the animator is having fun moving the new characters around.


I (the Business Developer), am taking care of writing every single task, from the first line of code to the day of the global launch of the game.

In the end, we cannot really start until the team is complete. We want Grid Fight to be immersive, not only in the gameplay but also with the lore. But this is something that we cannot do alone, we need the support of an excellent writer! That’s why we are looking to hire a talented junior game writer to join our team!

Since the game follows the story of extraordinary female warriors, we’d prefer to hire a female writer, that can express, in a better way, the point of view of the main characters.
